The Premier, Mrs Kirner, said yesterday that the improvement in home finance figures for April in Victoria was one of the first indicators of a recovery in the state's economy.

Mrs Kirner said the increase of nearly 19 per cent would not have happened without the federal drop in interest rates and the State Government's Home Start and Loan Sure schemes.
